Jagan lambasts Sharmila, Sunitha over YSR legacy

ANANTAPUR: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy reacted sharply to his kin, Y.S. Sharmila and Dr N. Sunitha, over their accusations against him and they targeting Y.S. Avinash Reddy in the Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

“In recent days, they came into public realm claiming YSR’s legacy, but the people would decide who carries that legacy and who is successor to YSR,” Jagan Mohan Reddy said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy has also referred to Sharmila’s allegation that she was neglected by him after he was elected as CM. “I didn't assume the role of chief minister to accumulate wealth or make my family members crorepatis. God has bestowed upon me this position to ensure the people's well-being,” he asserted.

Jagan Mohan Reddy filed his nominations for Pulivendula Assembly segment in his home turf at the auspicious muhurtham between 11.15 and 11.45 am, at the RO office of Pulivendula on Thursday after arriving there from Kadapa airport.

Prior to this, the CM reached the CSI grounds there, where a huge crowd gathered to greet him.

Jagan Mohan Reddy has been silent over the series of allegations being made by Sharmila and Sunitha over the past few years. He broke his silence and took a dig at them, saying, “Unable to face me alone in the political arena, the TD-JSP-BJP have united to conspire against me. Unfortunately, my two sisters are being used as part of their conspiracy.”

He asked the people how the two sisters can claim to be the heirs of YSR as they joined hands with those who schemed against Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. “Who targeted the YSR family? Who conspired against my father and filed false cases,” he asked.

Jagan Mohan Reddy lambasted the Congress that tried to hide the YSR legacy and said the party “couldn't even get as many votes as NOTA did.”

He said the Congress was responsible for the state bifurcation and it did not include the special category status for residuary AP in the state reorganisation act.

“Will anyone vote for the Congress that has broken the state into two,” he asked, and noted that voting for Congress would mean voting for Chandrababu.

Commenting on the Vivekananda Reddy murder case, Jagan Mohan Reddy firmly stated that Y.S. Avinash Reddy was wantonly being targeted even though he had “no role” in the murder of Vivekananda Reddy.

“Avinash has done nothing wrong, and I strongly believe that. So I gave the ticket for him to contest the election,” asserted the CM.

“Our younger sisters have become a part of the opposition conspiracy. They are hanging around with those who unfairly defeated Chinnanna in the MLC polls. People should be aware of the opposition’s conspiracy to gain political mileage,” he cautioned.

The CM expressed his gratitude to his home constituents who stood with him during the difficult times. “Pulivendula is resonating with development, trust, and it is a success story. This is because of the YSR brand, Pulivendula culture, Kadapa culture, and Rayalaseema culture.”

“No one can beat Jagan Mohan Reddy in administration, welfare and schemes. My rivals cannot claim to have done better than the YSRC in any field. Is Pulivendula ready to teach a lesson to those who are trying to attack YSR’s legacy,” asked the CM, seeking a hat-trick victory for him.

He added, “My government has provided governance, development and welfare to the people without taking bribes and without any discrimination. A medical college has been a long-time dream of the people of Pulivendula and it will be starting soon.”
