BRS Leader Gutha Sukender Reddy’s Son Amit Joins Congress

Nalgonda: Gutha Amith Reddy, son of Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy of the BRS, joining the Congress on Monday is expected to affect the chances of BRS Nalgonda candidate Kancherla Krishna Reddy.

The BRS candidate is a debutant and his campaign and speeches are failing to attract the public. The efforts of his brother and former Nalgonda MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy are being watered down by groupism.

According to sources, Amith Reddy would campaign in the Assembly segments of Nalgonda, Miryalaguda and Devarakonda Assembly segments — strongholds of Sukhender Reddy — for the victory of K. Raghuveer Reddy, the Congress candidate. Amith Reddy would explain to the people how he was deceived by the BRS leadership.

It is expected that supporters of Sukhender Reddy would follow Amith Reddy into the Congress in large numbers.

Sukhender Reddy had unsuccessfully lobbied for the BRS ticket from the Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha seat. The party had turned him down when he sought a ticket for Amith Reddy from Nalgonda or Munugode Assembly segments in last year’s state elections.

After his son failed to get the party ticket for the May 13 polls, Sukender Reddy spoke publicly indirectly targeting Suryapet MLA and former minister G. Jagadish Reddy. He also expressed displeasure over the attitude of BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao.

In a TV inteview, he had said the party was riven with differences and that party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao had not met BRS MLAs for six months prior to the Assembly elections.

Jagadish Reddy had added fuel to fire saying that Amith Reddy was not even a BRS member. There was a buzz in the political circles that the entire episode was masterminded by Sukhender Reddy. Sukhender Reddy did not respond to his son joining the Congress.
