Naidu, Pawan complain to ECI over illegal' removal of names from voters list

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan met Election Commission officials in Vijayawada on Tuesday and complained about removal of names of TD and JS supporters from the voters list in AP.

Maintaining that several irregularities were found in the electoral rolls, Naidu and Pawan said the “people have already started revolting” against the YSRC government. Bogus votes will not be allowed, they said, and hinted they would also take legal recourse.

The two leaders alleged that the fear of losing power has been haunting Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. “Hence, YSRC leaders are resorting to enrollment of names of bogus voters," they told the media after meeting the central election commission team.

They also alleged that the state government was filing false cases against the TD and the Jana Sena activists to prevent them from campaigning in the upcoming polls.

Naidu alleged that the secretariat staff and the volunteers “are forced to make a mockery of the entire poll process.” Both the TD and the Jana Sena would “wage a war” for upholding the democratic values.

The state has been experiencing total anarchy. Almost all the systems are being destroyed, Naidu said and claimed that in the Chandragiri assembly segment alone, 1.15 lakh names of bogus voters were registered using Form-6. Of these, 33,000 voters were already enrolled while the names of those who migrated elsewhere for employment have been deleted, he said.

“Generally, teachers, government officers and those who are experienced in the poll process are drafted for election purposes, but the state government is claiming that it cannot spare the services of such officials. This is because the ruling party wants to manipulate the whole process with the help of the volunteers nominated by this government,” he claimed.
