Life is very exciting now: Sarika
While refusing to talk about the recent attack on her daughter Shruti Haasan by a stalker, senior actor Sarika speaks to DC about her resurgent career.
So what is 'Club 60'?
Despite feeling a bit under the weather, Sarika talks about her film 'Club 60' where she will be seen with Farooque Sheikh. “It’s been a little while, but the script was just too good not to accept,” says the actor who plays Farooque’s wife in the movie. “We play a 60-year-old doctor couple. An incident takes place in their lives and the relationship has some problems.
“Apart from this the other story that runs parallel is about the members in 'Club 60',” she adds.
Besides 'Club 60', the actor has a few other projects in hand. Sarika, however, can’t divulge anything. “I have worked on two other projects, but I can’t reveal anything as we’re bound by these no disclosure bonds.”
“In a really happy place”
With daughter Shruti making a name for herself in Tollywood and younger daughter Akshara debuting in the industry, Sarika believes that “life is very exciting right now.”
“Now, we’re not just mother and daughters, we’re three actresses who get together and also discuss films apart from other things,” she laughs.
Does she advise them on what to do and how to choose their scripts? “I’m not really the kind who advises people. I want them to make their own decisions, that way they will learn,” she says, adding, “I’m in a happy place right now, both the kids are doing well, I’m busy with projects, life is good.”
She has had her share of ups and downs in life. From a spat with her mother to her separation from Kamal Haasan, Sarika has withstood it all. “I don’t know where we get the strength from. But we do. It’s not just me; you and I are not different. We all find the strength from unknown places,” she says, adding, “At the end it all works out for the good.”
Tollywood might not happen
With Sarika taking up film offers again, the idea of a film down South shouldn’t be that alien, but she says, “I’m a proper Hindi film actor and a film down South might not happen. If I ever do a film, it will only be if I want to work with the director. ”
Friends in Hyderabad?
“I do have a lot of friends in Hyderabad and a very close one too. Their names? No, I can’t reveal that,” she laughs. Talking about the city she says, “I’ve been here a couple of times, but mainly for work.”
