Prabhakar Kore pushes for Yeddyurappa return to BJP
Belgaum: While former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has himself made no announcement about returning to the BJP, his loyalist and Rajya Sabha MP, Prabhakar Kore on Friday made a strong case in favour of the party fighting the coming Lok Sabha elections under his leadership in the state.
“Yeddyurappa has never laid down any conditions for rejoining the party and most BJP leaders of the state want him back to face the elections under his leadership as he can make a big difference,” he told reporters here “Yeddyurappa's entry into the BJP will not only make it stronger in the state but also win it more seats in the parliamentary elections,” he contended.
According to BJP sources, pressure is being brought on the party high command to reinduct Yeddyurappa into the party at a convention to be held in Belgaum during the visit of its Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi to the state on December 19.
Most BJP leaders from Belgaum are reportedly keen on having the former Chief Minister back as this will win them the large number of Lingayat votes in the district.
Asked about the decision of his son, Amit Kore to join the Congress recently, Kore said it was his personal decision.
“I am prepared to contest the parliamentary elections on a BJP ticket from Chikkodi if my son contests from same constituency on a Congress ticket,” he declared.
