Kochi: The Kochi police have arrested goons from Bhai Nazeer’s gang in the past week. The arrests of Nazeer and his main aides have led to the arrest of his other goons too. However, the police have still not progressed in the arrest of any of Maradu Aneesh’s gang yet.
According to inside sources in the city police, the after effects of the unholy relationship between a top police officer in the city and Maradu Aneesh, who was later transferred to the state capital, has been hindering the arrest of his gang members. Sources said there are police officers who are in good terms with Aneesh and his gang members.
“I cannot let out the names, but there are still police officers who are supporting Aneesh’s gang. They have been doing that for years. Aneesh’s gang grew in the city, only with the support of these police officers,” said an officer on request of anonymity.
The city police chief’s had formed two teams in the city to hunt down the goons after the bust-up between the gangs of Maradu Aneesh and Bhai Nazeer on the corridor of Ernakulam additional chief judicial magistrate and the incident in which Aneesh’s goons threw mini-bombs at an apartment where Nazeer’s aides were staying.
