Airtel and Apple launch 4G mobile services in Bangalore
Bangalore: Bharti Airtel, India largest private telecom operator, on Friday said it has launched 4G mobile services for Apple iPhone 5S and 5C users in the city enabling high definition video streaming with zero buffering among other features.
iPhone owners would be able to enjoy these services at 3G prices.
"Now Airtel customers in Bengaluru on Apple iPhone 5S or 5C will be able to experience 4G on their mobile at the current 3G prices for internet browsing experience while on the move," Bharti Airtel said in a statement.
Customers have to change their existing SIM to a 4G SIM to enjoy 4G on mobile without any need to migrate from their existing data plan, it added.
Airtel mobile prepaid and postpaid users can enjoy 4G mobile experience like high definition video streaming with zero buffering, downloading 10 movies in less than 30 minutes, and connecting multiple devices without any experience constraint,among others.
"3G customers in Bengaluru on iPhone 5S and 5C can start enjoying 4G speeds at same price points as their existing 3G plan/pack," Airtel said.
Customers on 2G/GPRS data plans/packs can opt for any of the 3G plans/packs available and enjoy 4G speeds, it added.
Besides, heavy data users can avail the new 4G plan giving customers 10 GB 4G data for Rs 1,000.
While data browsing will be on 4G network, voice calls will be routed on 2G/3G seamlessly with the CSFB (circuit switched fall back) technology, Airtel said.
In the 10-day spectrum auction, which concluded yesterday, Airtel won back 900 MHz in Delhi and Kolkata and added the same in Mumbai. Its licences in Delhi and Kolkatta was due to expire in November this year.
It also won 1,800 MHz spectrum in 15 circles. In all it put in bids worth Rs 18,530 crore for a total of 115 MHz of spectrum in 900 MHz and 1800 MHz bands.
The Sunil Bharti Mittal-promoted firm said it will roll out pan-India 4G network using 1800 MHz.
