This year on 15th August, 2 big films will be clashing with each other at the box office. While 'Singham 2' starring Ajay Devgn was already announced for the same day, Ramesh Taurani’s 'It's Entertainment' starring Akshay Kumar has now been moved from 8th August to 15th August. Reason? That weekend will have 4 holidays in a row.
It’s a big day for any movie release as generally they try to cash in on the audience coming in on Saturday and Sunday. With 15th August this year filmmakers will get a continous 4 days to rake in the moolah as 18th August, Monday will be celebrated as 'Janamashtami'.
A leading distributor said, “ While 2 big films coming on the same day is not a good sign both these films are highly anticipated and will not eat into each other’s business. Plus it has four holidays in a row which is a good opportunity to garner more audience.”
Producer Ramesh Taurani however maintains, “ I am coming on 8th August and it will be better for me if I keep it this way. I can also use the 4 day holiday coming next week.”
Another clash between Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar on June 6 was averted. Prabhu Dheva’s 'Action Jackson' now has been postponed because they have a lot of portions yet to shoot. An insider reveals, “ When we recently went to Bangkok to shoot, we had to return back due to some political tensions. We couldn’t make use of the entire schedule.”
Meanwhile Ajay had committed to start shooting 'Singham 2' and he couldn’t delay that film either. So, though Ajay started shooting 'Action Jackson' first, 'Singham 2' will hit the theaters before the former film.So the war isn't over yet, with one clash averted, another clash is on its way. Action Jakscon is set to release in October this year.
