HYDERABAD: The rising temperatures are adding to the election heat. A group of young entrepreneurs and managers savouring water melon slices opposite the Chirag Ali Lane in Abids, are very clear about the elections.
Mohammed Esa, director of (Aastpl) showroom in Abids says the middle class must make the right choice, and not get swayed by speeches.
“We need leaders who can solve our basic problems like clean roads and municipal infrastructure. Instead of providing these facilities there is no accountability about where our money is going. Is it salaries, is it funding political parties or is it simply wasted on welfare schemes. Just as business firms making a profit and loss statement, we must have the same system in every department.”
Online manager Mubasheer Hussain sees technology as an important tool of governance.
“The online traffic challan system is a fantastic way to check corruption. Technology has the potential to solve our problems. The only thing is that we need the right person at the top.”
Swallowing his water melon, Abhishek Agarwal, a financial manager, said that he wants reforms in the party system.
“We must have only two parties. At present, there are too many players. These elections are nothing but a circus, and we will end with a hung government,” he said.
Retail manager Mohammed Zubeer wants India to grow.
“China is growing fast. If we do not have proper policies we will not be able to beat them. We need a strong government to ensure that industry grows,” he said.
