Twitter explodes over Modi marriage: Can he empower women?
Mumbai: Phew! Narendra Modi's disclosure in a poll affidavit that he is married has kicked up a Twitter storm, with some questioning whether he can now safeguard women's rights -- having walked away from a marriage himself. And then there are those who compare him to Buddha, for being able to renounce worldly pleasures to seek a better vision for himself, and now for the country.
There is also a strong case being made of whether Narendra Modi exercised a rightful choice by walking out of a child marriage.
And if there is a controversy, can Times Now boss Arnab Goswami be kept far behin? One Tweetizen even urges Goswami to pull off a grilling session with Modi on his marriage, and what else "he is hiding". By the looks of it, the nation certainly wants to know! Read on:
Modi's marriage, why did not speak about it before?

@Swamy39 On marriage: Modi did Gautama Buddha did, renounced married life for something bigger. How many of us renounced marriage pleasures?

Surely the issue re #Modi ' s child marriage is child marriage? He and his wife are both victims of this cultural evil.

. @sarkar_swati Modi walking out of a forced child-marriage should rather be seen as his first visionary step towards a better India.

The T-Rex skeleton in Modi's see-thru closet is 2002 not his marriage which was clearly foisted on him by family

On Modi, how can you trust a guy who lies about his marriage and abandons his wife.
— Vikram Alva (@VikramAlva) April 10, 2014
Those attacking Narendra Modi on his marriage thing, stop supporting child marriages. Respect individual freedom. We are in 2014.
— Saiswaroopa (@Sai_swaroopa) April 10, 2014
Modi had a failed marriage. How will he govern the nation?...Because your office hired you for the job based on your successful family life.
