Gulzar honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award
Gulzar has been chosen to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2013
Mumbai: Veteran lyricist Gulzar has been chosen to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2013.
Known by his pen name, Gulzar has worked in Bollywood for over 50 years as a lyricist, dialogue writer and screen play writer.
He has also directed critically-acclaimed movies like 'Andhi' 'Mere Apne', 'Parichay' and 'Koshish' among others.
Gulzar was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2002 and the Padma Bhushan in 2004.
He won an Oscar as well as a Grammy Award in 2010 for writing the lyrics of 'Jai Ho', a popular song from Danny Boyle's film 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest award in cinema, given annually by the government.
