Bring Sachin on board, says Venkatesh prasad

Prasad feels retired players Tendulkar should be brought in to manage the affairs of Indian cricket
New Delhi: With the Board of Control for Cricket in India in turmoil after the Supreme Court forced N. Srinivasan to quit the president’s post, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad feels that retired players like Sachin Tendulkar should be brought in to manage the affairs of Indian cricket.“I think giving charge to former players like Sachin or Rahul Dravid would be a fantastic idea. They are players with a clean image and a lot of integrity.
They have a lot of passion, a lot of commitment for the game. With the kind of experience they have, they could do a lot of good for the game,” Prasad said here on Tuesday. “If that happens, that will be fantastic.” With India scheduled to tour England for a Test series after the IPL, one would feel that adjusting to the five-day version of the game immediately after a lengthy Twenty20 competition could be bit of a challenge.
Prasad, however, feels differently.“An international cricketer should be able to adapt to any format as quickly as possible. He cannot pick and choose where and which format he wants to play in. He just needs to adapt. The skills and capability are there,” he said.“India are an amazing team with lots of talent. They are definitely much smarter than the earlier teams. They have got all the capabilities to do well in England,” he added.
Fellow pace veteran Javagal Srinath, also present on the occasion, backed Zaheer Khan’s inclusion for the 2015 World Cup. “Zaheer is a top class bowler. If he has the desire, resolve and the strength to deliver, he is an automatic choice,” he said.He also praised the current pacers. “Mohammad Shami is a good bowler. Even Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is shaping up well. Ishant Sharma is looking to be back on track,” he said.
