Hafiz Saeed invited as chief guest by bar association in Pakistan

For the first time, Lahore High Court Bar Association invited the leader of banned organisation
Lahore: Jamat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed, blamed by India for orchestrating the Mumbai terror attacks, was invited as chief guest at Pakistan's one of the premier bar associations here, but the decision was opposed by a section of the lawyers.
For the first time, Lahore High Court Bar Association on Friday invited the head of an internationally banned religious organisation as chief guest at its function.
The rival group of the elected body of the lawyers opposed the bar's move saying it is unfortunate that a premier bar association has invited the head of a banned organisation.
"What message we are giving to the world by inviting controversial personality to this function. Inviting Saeed means the lawyers' community considers him the leader of the country and endorses his views," a senior lawyer of Lahore High Court told PTI on condition of anonymity.
He added, "We, the opposition to this elected body, will raise this issue among the community and stop this practice in future."
