Digvijaya Singh hits out at Modi for criticising Rajiv Gandhi, demands apology
Mumbai: Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh attacked Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday for criticising former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at his election rally in Congress vice president's home turf, Amethi.
During an election rally in support of BJP candidate Smriti Irani in Amethi on Monday, Modi had accused Congress of practicing politics of "arrogance" and said Rajiv Gandhi, when he was Congress General Secretary, had once publicly "abused" and "humiliated" the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister T Anjaiah at airport. Anjaiah was chief minister between 1980 and 1982.
Reacting to Gujarat chief minister’s comments, Digvijays tweeted:
Modi shows his true colours. Criticised Rajiv ji a Martyr in Amethi. Not only condemn it strongly but demand apology.

Singh’s comments came after Priyanka Gandhi slammed Modi, saying he has insulted her "martyred" father Rajiv Gandhi during his speech in Amethi and accused BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate of indulging in "low-level" politics.
"They have insulted my martyred father on the soil of Amethi. People of Amethi will never forgive them for this wrong act. My workers at booths will reply to this despicable politics. Each and every booth of Amethi will give a reply," Priyanka Gandhi said.
