Narendra Modi a style icon says Sai Suman, Mumbai-based fashion designer

Designer has styled Narendra Modi's attire for his oath-taking ceremony

Mumbai: Mumbai based Bollywood designer, Sai Suman tailored custom-made attire for the incoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to wear on the occasion of his oath taking ceremony.

Suman has styled the clothing keeping in mind the taste and body language of the dynamic leader with the party logo (lotus) handcrafted on the buttons of the blazers and 'Kurtas' (traditional men's clothing).

Narendra Modi, on Friday, thundered to a historic victory in 2014 elections to run the country-for the next five years, in a seismic political shift that gives the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a mandate for sweeping economic reforms.

Meanwhile, Suman said after preparing the sketches for over a month, she decided to tailor them in pure organic fabric, which is Modi's preferred choice.

"The fabric is natural cotton fabric and I know that he wears lots of natural fabric, so I kept this in my mind while making this dress for him" she said.

Dubbing Modi as a style icon, Suman said Modi can gracefully carry a range of colours and patterns for his clothes.

"He is a style icon and he wears very nice clothes that also in different colours which many politicians don't wear. To carry these colours and styles off you need confidence which he has, so designing for Narendra Modi was really exciting and easy to do" she said.

The BJP has a parliamentary majority in 543-member, giving the 63-year-old former tea-seller Modi ample room to advance economic reforms which were started 23 years ago by the outgoing Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh but stalled in recent years.

With more than six times the seats of its closest rival, Modi's is the most decisive mandate for any leader since the 1984 assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi propelled her son Rajiv to office.

Since 1989, India has been governed by coalitions.
