Shakun Batra ropes in Aditya Roy Kapur for his second film
Mumbai: After the success of ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’, starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor, director Shakun Batra took his own time to start his next. He went to Delhi, his hometown to take a break and didn’t rush on to his next.
However, in the last one year, he invested all his time to write a script, a mature love story revolving around human relationships. He has already met Karan Johar and discussed the entire draft with him and the script has been approved.
Regarding the cast, Aditya Roy Kapur has been finalized for the film. An insider revealed, “Karan is very happy with the way Aditya’s career has taken a high after ‘Aashiqui 2’. They are also great friends and it was obvious that Karan would cast him in one of next projects. However the question was when? Shakun’s script is the answer and the character he has written suits Aditya’s personality very well.”
While there have been reports about Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan being approached for the role, the only confirmed name on board is Aditya Roy Kapur. He also acted in ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ as a loser alcoholic friend of Ranbir Kapoor produced by the same banner.
Hunt for a leading lady is still going on.
Produced by Dharma Productions, it is likely to go on floors by the end of the year.
Deccan Chronicle messaged Shakun Batra but he chose not to respond.
