AAP activists accused of creating ruckus during press meet in Amritsar

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is on a tour of Punjab

Amritsar: Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust on Tuesday accused some AAP activists, led by its convener Arvind Kejriwal, of creating a "ruckus" at its premises and holding a press conference without prior permission from district administration.

Secretary of the trust, S K Mukerjee said that he would report the matter to the police for further legal action against the AAP activists.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal has described the incident as "highly unfortunate" and assured that the party will take care to avoid such incidents in future.

Mukerjee alleged that "the AAP activists barged into the office and organised press conference without requisite permission."

The Jallianwalla Bagh office property was also damaged in the melee, he claimed.

Kejriwal is on a tour of Punjab and came here today to pay tribute to the martyrs of Jallianwalla Bagh.

During the press conference, heated words were also exchanged between media persons and AAP activists on some issue, sources said, adding that a scuffle also ensued after the verbal duel.

Amritsar Press Association president Jasbir Singh Patti was also allegedly manhandled.
