7 Pakistani soldiers killed in Afghan border attacks
The target of the attack was Pakistani border posts in northwestern Bajaur tribal district
Peshawar: At least seven Pakistani soldiers have been killed and as many injured in two cross-border attacks by Taliban militants on military outposts on the border with Afghanistan.
The target of the attack was Pakistani border posts in northwestern Bajaur tribal district which borders the Kunar province of Afghanistan.
Heavily armed militants crossed over from northeastern Afghanistan yesterday morning and attacked a military post in the Mano Zangal area, Express Tribune reported.
In the afternoon, militants again intruded from Afghanistan and targeted Mokha Top post with heavy weapons, triggering skirmishes that continued intermittently the whole day.
During the day-long intermittent firing from across the border seven soldiers were killed while seven were injured, a security official said.
The Foreign Office yesterday condemned the attack without giving details of Pakistan's response.
It is believed that fugitive Taliban chief Maulvi Fazlullah was hiding in Kunar and frequently targeting Pakistan Army.
Meanwhile, four soldiers got injured yesterday in an IED blast in Bajaur, the security official said.
