NDRF team dispatched to rescue students and faculty of VNR Engineering College

New Delhi: The National Disaster Response Force has dispatched a team from its nearest centre in Bhatinda to try and rescue the students and faculty of the VNR Vignana Jyothi Engineering College who were swept away in the Beas river.
Mandi and other hilly terrian of the state do not have any disaster response forces immediately available to deal with the crisis. The NDRF team will only be able to reach Mandi on Monday.
AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has asked Union home minister Rajnath Singh to deploy the National Disaster Response Force for rescue operations to which Mr Singh has agreed.
