Andhra Pradesh panel to review Sand Mining Policy
Hyderabad: The AP government on Monday constituted an expert committee to examine the existing ‘Sand Mining Policy’ and suggest measures to simplify sand mining.
The committee has been given the twin objective of coming up with suggestions that will not only help the government curb illegal sand mining, but, more importantly, make sand available in market.
The AP government issued GO RT No. 224 on Monday constituting the committee. The chief secretary held a meeting to review the procedure involved in sand mining in the context of availability of sand for the fast growing construction industry in the state.
The committee comprises principal secretary of revenue (lands) as its chairman, and principal secretaries of industries and commerce (mines), irrigation, special chief secretary, EFST, and director of groundwater department as its members, besides the director of mines and geology as its member-convener.
