Narendra Modi’s oops moment in Bhutan Parliament irks Twitteratis
Thimpu: Oops he did it again! Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in the Bhutan Parliament began on an embarrassing note.
Otherwise known for his oratory skills, the newly elected PM made a silly slip and invited the wrath of Twitteratis.
During his address Modi said ‘Nepal’ instead of ‘Bhutan’ while hailing the country’s royal family.
Modi is on a 2-day official visit to Bhutan in a bid to strengthen bilateral relations and improve trade between the two countries. Earlier on Sunday, Modi told its leadership that India would nurture its bilateral ties with it while describing relations as “B4B - Bharat for Bhutan.”

Accorded a warm, red-carpet welcome on his first visit abroad as PM, Mr Modi called on Bhutan King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wang-chuck and met Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Speaking at a banquet hosted by Mr Tobgay, Mr Modi said India and Bhutan are “made for each other” considering the “glorious” traditional linkages between the two countries.
Modi is scheduled to travel to Japan for his next foreign visit.
