Chennai: June 15, or Father’s Day was special for the Manchu family in a number of ways this year. Actress and producer Lakshmi Manchu and her husband Andy Srinivasan welcomed their baby girl into the world. Another coincidence was that June 15 is Andy’s birthday too!
The couple is believed to have planned this baby over a year ago and found a surrogate in Ahmedabad. They made a couple of discreet trips last year, after which their efforts bore fruit. On Sunday, the entire Manchu family welcomed the little baby girl with a number of heartfelt messages.
Her father, Mohan Babu tweeted, “God has been kind. @LakshmiManchu my darling daughter has been blessed with a baby girl through surrogacy. One of the best moments of my life (sic).”
Actor Manoj Manchu, Lakshmi’s brother posted: “God had been kind.@LakshmiManchu my darling sister has been blessed with a Baby Girl. Through surrogacy. Thank u god:) I’m Mama now.”
Lakshmi and Andy got married in 2006, but knew each other for several years before that. A friend of the family who is based in Chennai says that Andy was always keen on fatherhood. The IT professional, whose family is based in Chennai, moved to India from the US where he was settled for several years so that they would have a base to start a family.
Andy and Lakshmi have decided to settle in Hyderabad now and bring up their daughter there. The Manchu family is believed to be together for this momentous occasion to welcome their newest member. We wish the close-knit clan lots of happiness.
