Governors of Haryana, Goa may resign
New Delhi: As the BJP government prepares to announce its list of fresh gubernatorial appointments within the next fortnight, two governors who are in exit mode Goa governor B.V. Wanchoo, whom the state BJP has been targeting, and Haryana governor Jagannath Pahadia, whose term ends in July met Union home minister Rajnath Singh.
Mr Wanchoo, 63, who is likely to be questioned as a witness in the AgustaWestland helicopter case, is learnt to have conveyed his desire to quit during a meeting with the home minister.
Mr Wanchoo’s likely exit comes a day after West Bengal governor M.K. Narayanan, who may also be questioned as a witness in the same helicopter deal, is learnt to have conveyed his willingness to step down if the government asks him to quit.
Mr Wanchoo refused to talk to journalists after the meeting.
