Men, here's how women stop you from becoming whiners, learn to appreciate them!

Hyderabad: Women, know that saying about how behind every successful man there is... yeah, that one. Well, it’s true. In fact, not just behind, but even in front and besides, it’s always women. Women all around... shiny, happy and supportive women.

And women don’t do it for themselves. Oh no, they have more self-respect than that. The only reason a woman stands by her man and eggs him on to accomplish greatness is because she can’t stand the incessant whining that can emanate from a man who is not doing anything specific.

A man left to himself is mostly a purposeless primate. And in this state of idleness he finds ways to occupy himself, which last no longer than five minutes and then the man reverts to the one thing he can do all day: complain. So when a woman comes along and sees things for how they should be, it doesn’t take her long to set them right. Over time, their lucid approach becomes a reliance that we men can extract ourselves from and before we know it, dependency sets in.

How bad can it be? Well, I recently texted the girlfriend to know where to put up the wall clock. Any movement of furniture is never executed till I have first cross-checked. This may sound a bit whipped of me but the truth is, I don’t ask for fear of invoking her wrath. I ask because somehow I have started believing that she will know better and what she suggests will be more well thought out, more measured and meticulous, and it would have required her no more than the usual set of brain cells to come up with it. Alone, I would have needed ten times the resources and the time period to come with something equally poignant. And all this, for sticking a nail in a wall!

This doesn’t happen everywhere. I am still the guy who knows roads a little better, or what car do I want to buy — although, if she were into it, I bet I’d be searching out her wisdom on that too — but with most other things I realise how efficient women can be. This dependency, as you may notice, runs deeper and wider into every other aspect and it pretty much could be the last nail in the coffin, sealing the fate of men and their indispensability.

But luckily, for all their surety, women too have their Achilles’ heels, a moment of weakness when they turn to us men and I don’t just mean opening stuck jar lids. With certain issues women show unprecedentedly heightened signs of confusion, what shoes to buy, which clothes to wear them with, which bag to carry, flats or pumps, and questions like these are where women seem to lack clarity. And it is here that they turn to us men, as if almost lending us some sense of relevance. Sure, it needs some quick decision-making and we men have to remain critical and yet appreciative.

So, next time something goes right, you will know there was a lady behind it, not just because she needed you to help her decide her shoes and bags for an evening but because she loved you and did not kill you on account of all the baying and moaning.
