Budget 2014 is growth-oriented, says Chandrababu Naidu
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the Union Budget, which was presented by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley in the Parliament on Thursday, and described it as developmental and growth oriented. He said the Central government has given more priority to develop infrastructure.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at his camp office Lake View guest house, Mr Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has got Agriculture University, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). He said the proposed Visakhapatnam and Chennai corridor will be useful to Andhra Pradesh while the Kakinada hardware park will solve unemployment problem to some extent.
However, he said that the state still has to get many more institutions. He said Andhra Pradesh state will develop like Gujarat.
When asked that the Centre did not mention anything about special category status to Andhra Pradesh and no funds were allotted under special development package, Mr Naidu said the Central government has to issue some orders first on the assurances given in the AP state Reorganisation Act, only then funds will be allotted.
He said, “We cannot expect everything in the first Budget. The Central government is barely a month old. The state government will think on how to overcome the problems and also how to get the funds from the Centre. Later, we can try to get more funds allotted to us,” he said.
Adding that the union budget is acceptable to everyone.
District tours
Mr Naidu, meanwhile, said he will tour the districts two days in every week starting from the following week.
Meanwhile in the cabinet meeting which was held on Thursday Chandrababu explained his district tours schedule to the ministers and asked them also to tour in the districts frequently. He warned the ministers not to leak the cabinet deliberations to the media. He denied that he was disappointed with the allotment of funds in the union budget.
