School bus accident: Four children ‘most critical’, had multiple injuries, say doctors
Hyderabad: Out of the 20 children admitted at Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, four of them —Vaishnavi, 11, Tarun, 7, Prashanth, 6 and Varun Goud, 7, — are in the ‘most critical’ state. Three others are in a critical condition while four are stable.
The doctors said most of the children are in a state of shock after the accident and have received multiple injuries.
“About 80 per cent of them are in a state of shock. We are allowing their parents to visit thrice a day. It will take some time for them to return to normalcy. Depending on the individuals and the gravity of their injuries, they will recover,” said Dr A. Lingaiah, the medical director of Yashoda Hospital.
Doctors said they are hopeful that children who are critical will respond to medicines. But presently, the doctors have adopted a wait and watch policy and are monitoring them on an hourly basis.
The families were kept waiting for long hours at the hospital. They alleged that they were not allowed to see their kids and were not even informed about their condition. There were also arguments between security personnel and the relatives. The hospital authorities, however said, they were only allowing people with passes inside.
Telangana deputy CM T. Rajaiah, minister Harish Rao and AP CM, N. Chandrababu Naidu, also visited the hospital. Meanwhile, six-year-old Darshan was taken off the ventilator and was put on oxygen. Young Darshan celebrated his birthday in the hospital on Friday. Sources said he cut a birthday cake and was wished by his parents and the hospital staff.
