Freedom is so intoxicating: Kangana Ranaut
Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is back in the business after a filmmaking course in New York, is still adjusting to all the attention back home. She says, “When I went to the classroom (in New York) no one there knew me and I was like where am I? Now I am back here where everyone knows me. Freedom is so intoxicating,” she laughs, adding, her decision to do the course has been “the best thing” she has done in her life.
She’s at a good place right now and is not looking for anything else at the moment and that includes love! It is been said, that after Queen’s success, it’s very difficult to cast her as she has raised her fees. When asked how much of it is true, Kangana says, “No, it’s not about the price, it’s just that I haven’t been taking up projects like people expected me to. They expected that I’ll sign 10 films and do back-to-back movies. But that didn’t happen. So, that can be one of the reasons that people are feeling that I have raised my fees and stuff like that.”
Talking about her future projects she shares, “I am doing Tanu Weds Manu 2 opposite Madhavan for which we will start shooting from next month. I am also doing a film with Reema Kagti for which I will start shooting next year in February. There’s also Sai Kabir’s movie alongside Irrfan Khan called Divine Lovers, which is the first French production from India. Divine Lovers is set in Mumbai and Aligarh. The film is a complete contrast to Revolver Rani, as it’s not loud, aggressive or violent. Also, now I am doing one project at a time as I don’t like clashing things. I think it’s time to work on my own terms now.”
After Queen hit a jackpot at the box office and was appreciated by the masses and classes alike, Kangana was showered with appreciation from the industry big wigs. “I think, the kind of response that I got from all my films is overwhelming. I am a person who likes small things in life, like how people show their affection towards my work feels really special. I am touched by little gestures in life,” she says.
Known for her stylish Western red carpet appearances, the actress clarifies, “You have to understand that when you work for a film like Krrish 3, which is a science fiction or other films which don’t require you to connect with the masses, one cannot sport an Indian garment. We get the brief from agencies and then we dress up accordingly,” the actor says.
