Centre to form panel to solve Telangana, Andhra Pradesh power problems
Hyderabad: Union energy minister Mr Piyush Goyal said on Sunday that the Centre would constitute a committee to look into the power problems of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Goyal met AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his residence and discussed the state’s power problems.
Speaking to the media later, Mr Goyal said that an extra 500 MW power would be available by September and another 500 MW by January.
He added that from August 1 to March 2015, additional 200 MW power would be allotted to Andhra Pradesh.
Mr Goyal also said that Andhra Pradesh would become a solar power hub.
Chief Minister Mr Naidu meanwhile assured that from October, 24-hour power would be supplied to domestic users too and additional coal would be supplied to power projects in the state.
Mr Goyal said that if Telangana and Andhra Pradesh cooperated with each other on the power issue, their problems would be solved.
