Telangana intensive household survey: Big bang survey today
Telangana shuts down, only emergency wings open
Hyderabad: In one of the largest exercises of its kind, the people in Telangana settled down to do nothing but answer or skip queries on their family details, movable and immovable assets among others on Tuesday, as part of state government’s Intensive Household Survey.
It will be a record of sorts as 99.41 lakh households will be enumerated by 3.69 lakh staff in 10 districts in about 12 hours. The survey will commence at 7 am in Hyderabad and 8 am in the districts.
Less than 80 days after the formation of Telangana state, the TRS government took up the gigantic task to enumerate all households on a single day to assess the social and economic status of each and every family in the state.
The government has told the High Court that participation in the survey is voluntary. The government has stated that families that do take the survey can skip specific questions. There will be no questions regarding nativity, directly or indirectly.
The Telangana government has declared a public holiday across all sectors to ensure that people stay in their houses to participate in the survey.
Except hospitals and emergency services, the entire state will remain shut.
RTC buses and autorickshaws will be off the roads, shopping malls, cinema halls and commercial establishments will be closed. Trains and flights will operate normally. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandras-ekhar Rao urged the people to cooperate and provide correct details.
