Congress leader Janardhan Reddy’s daughter joins TRS with followers
TRS is expecting more people from other parties to join it
Hyderabad: YSR Congress leader Vijaya Reddy joined TRS along with her followers, mostly from the Khairatabad Assembly constituency, here on Tuesday.
Daughter of former city Congress strongman, the late P. Janardhan Reddy, Ms Vijaya Reddy said she joined the TRS impressed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s commitment to the poor and his programmes and policies. “KCR stands for the poor. I will extend full support to his programmes and policies. We will strive to strengthen the party in Hyderabad, besides nurturing Khairatabad Assembly constituency,” she said.
Home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, TRS secretary general and MP Dr K. Keshava Rao, TRS MP Kavitha, MLC Ramulu Naik and others welcomed Ms Vijaya Reddy to the TRS. The home minister said several leaders from various political parties, including corporators, would join the TRS soon.
“We expect an exodus from various parties soon. Leaders and people are highly impressed by the dedication of the Chief Minister and his policies,” he said.
Ms Kavitha said Ms Vijaya Reddy would be an asset to the party and hoped she would follow the footsteps of her father Janardhan Reddy.
Stating that the TRS would strengthen its base in the city, she said the party would wrest control of the GHMC. “The TRS flag should flutter atop the GHMC,” Ms Kavitha added.
