Bengaluru: On a day when Union home minister Rajnath Singh faced charges of favouring his son for a poll ticket, his colleague Railway minister Sadananda Gowda had his own share of troubles to deal with, after model and actor Mythriya Gowda claimed that his son Karthik had secretly married her and then ditched her for another woman. Mythriya’s complaint came hours after Karthik got engaged to a woman at a ceremony in Kodagu, in the presence of his family. Mythriya Gowda, whose whatsapp status on Wednesday night, read “Happy Birthday Karthik”, has pressed charges of cheating and rape against Karthik Gowda.
Model and actress Mythriya Gowda who claims to have married Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, on Wednesday night lodged a complaint against Karthik Gowda with RT Nagar police accusing him of committing the offences of rape and cheating. The entire ‘drama’ unfolded’ on the day Karthik Gowda got engaged to another woman at a grand ceremony held in Kushal Nagar, Kodagu in the presence of his family.
Even as the news broke over the engagement of the son of Mr Sadananda Gowda, the actress surfaced before the media claiming that she was already married in ‘private’ to Karthik Gowda on June 5. The actress alleged that Karthik had married her in Mangalore on June 5 in the presence of his car driver following friendship which eventually turned into love. She claimed Karthik had asked her not to reveal their marriage details until he got the consent of his parents Sadananda Gowda and his wife.
Meanwhile, Karthik denied the charges claiming that that it was done to tarnish the clean image of Mr Sadananda Gowda. “Complainant, Mythriya Gowda, came along with media and advocates to RT Nagar police station Wednesday night and lodged a complaint against Karthik Gowda, son of Union Minister, Sadananda Gowda accusing him of rape and cheating. We have taken up a case, booking the accused under IPC sections 376 and 420,” said ACP, J.C. Nagar sub-division Omkariah.
