More snake gang victims surface

Hyderabad:More crimes of the snake gang have come to light with three more victims approaching the Cyberabad police accusing them of land grabbing, criminal intimidation and attempt to murder. As the gang was using snakes to threaten victims, the police has booked an additional case for cruelty to animals against them.
Based on the victim’s complaints, the cops have now booked new cases for land grabbing and criminal intimidation. The gang had unleashed a reign of terror in the Pahadi Shareef area.
Inspector Sridhar said that the new charges were booked after more victims lodged complaints. “A case under the Wildlife Protection Act has been booked against them for cruelty to animals. Apart from that cases under the Land Grabbing Act and attempt to murder also have been booked,” he said.
A woman had alleged that the gang grabbed her land, and had threatened her. The gang, led by Faisal Dayyani “settled” a land deal by grabbing it from the woman. The gang was busted after they allegedly raped a woman, who came with her fiancé to a farmhouse.
They used a snake to threaten the victims and raped the woman. Cops said the gang had raped some other victims too in the same way. Gangster Salam Hamdi, 24, a resident of Bismillah colony, is a snake charmer and used to supply snakes to Faisal. The gang also used to “courts” to settle local disputes. and used to threaten people with snakes.
Cyberabad commissioner C.V. Anand has urged the gang’s victims to file complaints.
