Unseeded ration cards are bogus ones
Adilabad: All ration cards which have not been seeded with the Aadhaar cards will be considered as bogus ration cards. A survey would be conducted on the ration cards which have not been seeded in the next 4-5 days and then a last date would be declared to consider those cards not having the linkage with Aadhaar as bogus cards.
In Adilabad district, there are 1.8 lakh unseeded units (family members) pertaining to ration cards.
The state government is planning to issue new ration cards, carrying the logo of Telangana government, in between Dasara and Deepavali.
Of the total 21,95,684 units, as many as 88.58 per cent ration units were seeded with Aaadhar in Adilabad district. There are a total of 6,19, 900 ration cards of which, 5,46,969 cards are white.
The civil supplies and the revenue departments will conduct an inquiry into the ration cards that have not been seeded with Aadhaar.
The state government has issued orders to complete ration card seeding before September 15.
District supply officer Vasanthrao Deshpande said about 85,000 ration cards were weeded out after seeding with the Aadhaar when the central government asked for it to reimburse LPG payments into the accounts of the ration card holders. Mr Deshpande appealed to the ration card holders to submit a photocopy of their ration card to the revenue officials concerned.
He said they would remove all cards relating to the dead and migrants. Essentials would be supplied to only those whose cards had been seeded with Aadhaar, he said. “All cards not seeded with Aadhaar will be considered bogus,” he added.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the state government is planning to cut down the importance being given to ration cards as most people have been considering that possession of a white ration card would make them eligible to enjoy the benefits of various government schemes. Officials are mulling to give priority to PAN, Aadhaar cards.
