KCR media attack: Telangana Chief Minister asked to observe restraint
Hyderabad: Stating that those who run governments need to observe restraint and patience on media reports, Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday appealed to Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to respect the law of the land.
Talking to newsmen in Delhi, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said, “If you have any objection to the adverse media reports, you can either approach a court of law under the respective sections of the IPC or that of the Press Council”.
Referring to Mr Rao’s comments against the media that he will bury those media institutions which indulge in anti-Telangana campaign and write against the traditions and culture of Telangana, Mr Venkaiah Naidu said it is not proper for a Chief Minister to talk on those lines. “Be patient, show restraint and respect the freedom of press, there is way to deal with adverse reports appeared in a section of the media,” Mr Venkaiah Naidu said.
Meanwhile, AICC spokesperson Salman Kurshid condemned the comments made by Mr Rao, saying, “Media is part of democracy and one needs to respect the freedom of press, it is not possible to threaten media like this just because some adverse stories have appeared. Being friendly with the media is always good for democracy”.
