Hyderabad: After the proposed delimitation of Assembly constituencies in both the states, Ranga Reddy district in Telangana state and East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh will have the highest number of Assembly constituencies. In Ranga Reddy district, the total number of Assembly segments will increase from 14 to 23 and in East Godavari district the total number of Assembly segments will increase from 19 to 23.
The Election Commission of India will appoint delimitation committees for the two states separately. Each delimitation committee in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will have five members. According to state bifurcation Act, the delimitation of Assembly constituencies should be completed in both states before the next general elections to be held in 2019. After increasing the Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, the total number of Assembly segments will increase to 225 from 175 and in Telangana state total Assembly segments will increase to 153 from 119. But the total number of Lok Sabha constituencies will remain same in both the states.
After the delimitation in Andhra Pradesh, SC and ST reserved constituencies will increase to 50 from 36. Likewise, in Telangana the total number of res-erved constituencies will increase to 38 from 31. The Election Commission authorities have prepared the list of Assembly constituencies to be increased district wise in both states after delimitation on the basis of 2011 census. Based on the population of SC and STs in Andhra Pradesh state, SCs are entitled to 38 and STs to 12 Assembly seats out of the total 225 Assembly seats. In Telangana SCs are entitled 24 and STs are entitled 14 seats out of 153 Assembly constituencies.
