‘Happy to be a part of Dhanush’s film’
Meenakshi was away from the industry as she was pursuing MBA degree
She has been absent from the industry for the past three years, but has managed to bag more than two films this year. Meenakshi Sarkar made her debut in Karuppasami Kuthagaikaaran, which had actor Karan in the lead. She was last seen in Agam Puram in 2010. Now, the actress has signed Vetrimaaran’s next film, titled Soodhadi, which has Dhanush in the lead. The film has Lakshmi Menon opposite Dhanush, and Meenakshi playing a crucial role. “I star opposite Parthiban sir in the film.
The film is all set to go on the floors in October, and likely to release in mid 2015. It’s a very different script,” says Meenakshi. She adds, “Vetri sir wants me to play that role as it’s a very bold one, with a glamorous look. I am in saris throughout the film,” she says, glad to be part of the venture.
She was away from the industry this long as she was busy pursuing her MBA degree and taking care of her father who was not well. “I am happy to be back now,” she says. Meenakshi is also busy shooting for a Kutthu number directed by Ezhil. “I have danced with Venkat Prabhu for Ezhil sir’s film. It’s a peppy Kutthu number, which is the intro song for the hero,” she says. Meenakshi is also playing the female lead in a film, titled Villangam, opposite Nandha.
“It’s a performance oriented role, and I am pinning high hopes on it.” She plans to be in two more projects that are under wraps for the moment.
