Redmi Note 2, with high-end 20MP Sony Exmor camera, could be here
Redmi Note, the next smartphone from Xiaomi, is expected to hit the Indian market soon. The Redmi Note is a 200g 5.5-inch HD phablet with a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage and a 13MP camera (5MP rear). Priced at a mere Rs 9,999, the product is definite to give the other rivals in the same segment a run for their money.
However, a post on one of Xiaomi’s own Chinese forums revealed that Redmi will launch another version with a powerful hardware.
The Redmi Rice, possibly the name for the Chinese version, is getting a facelift. The new device will sport a 5.5-inch full HD display with a metal chassis. The internal hardware will sport a more powerful octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM. The newer Redmi Note will highlight the best part—a 20MP rear camera, which will be a Sony Exmor RS, the same one used on the Sony Xperia Z3-series, which was recently launched. Four variants will be available on the new Note, which are 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128Gb. Prices start from $165 (Approx Rs 10,500), according to the post.
We are not sure if Xiaomi will launch the new version of the Redmi Note here in India, or will carry on with the sale of the present version. The Flipkart and Mi pages for India state the older version for now.
Any tricks up the sleeve, Xiaomi?
