Make development a mass movement, says PM Modi
New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged the Indian American community to make the development of India a mass movement.
Speaking at Madison Square Garden here, Prime Minister Modi said, "Mahatma Gandhi made the freedom struggle a mass movement. Every Indian felt that yes, I am also a part of the freedom struggle. We want to make development a mass movement."
"It is our endeavour to make development a people's movement. If the nation has to progress, then good governance is essential. I may be thousands of kilometres away, but I understand your troubles and problems," he added.
The Prime Minister, who began and ended his hour-long address with a cry of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', also told the expatriate community about the concept of 'Make in India'.
"If you want human resources and low-cost production, then India is your destination. I invite you to the 'Make in India' initiative. We aim to show our strength by exploiting technology to the maximum extent," he said.
