Cyclone disrupts railways schedule
Hyderabad: The South Central Railway has issued passenger alerts in view of the approaching cyclone. Railway tracks across the coastal region may be affected. Train service patterns may be changed over the next three days.
By Friday evening, Garibrath and Duronto Express trains to Visakhapatnam, and the Visakha Express were cancelled. Puri Express and Tirumala Express from Tirupati were also cancelled.
Falaknuma and Sambalpur Express have been diverted via Balarshah on Saturday. Passengers have been requested to check the train schedule.
The train services on the Secunderabad-Kazipet-Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam; and Tirupati-Gudur-Vijayawada-Samalkot/Kakinada-Visakhapatnam sections are likely to be affected during between October 11 and 13.
Emergency control rooms will be set up at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad and Vijayawada head office.
