AIADMK supremo assured party cadres that she will emerge successfull
Chennai: AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa on Sunday assured party cadres that she will emerge successfully out of the difficult situation she finds herself in, just as she had done several times in the past.In her first communiqué since reaching Chennai on Saturday, Jayalalitha said that her public life is like swimming in a sea of inferno. “Since the day I committed myself to public life, I have been experiencing the ordeals of leading a life dedicated to the welfare of the people.
I have sacrificed myself for safeguarding my AIADMK and my journey henceforth will continue along the same path,” the former Chief Minister said.Recalling that her mentor and party founder MG Ramachandran had secured an assurance from her that she would dedicate herself to leading the AIADMK, Jaya said she was living by that promise. She assured the party workers that she will meet their expectations, besides continuing to work for the welfare of the people of the state.
The former Chief Minister pointed out that 193 people had died in TN after hearing of the news of her conviction and subsequent imprisonment and expressed her concern over the families of the deceased. Expressing her condolences , the AIADMK general secretary announced a relief of rupees three lakh to each of families even as she said the party will provide Rs 50,000 each for the three persons who attempted suicide and were admitted to hospitals for treatment.
She urged supporters not to take any such extreme steps and also thanked all those who had prayed for her release. According to a party release, 17 persons had died due to immolation, 20 committed suicide by hanging, nine persons drank poison while three persons jumped before speeding trains and killed themselves. A total of 139 persons died of cardiac arrest upon hearing the news, a release said.
