WhatsApp users can now know if their message has been read
WhatsApp has pushed an over-the-air feature on iOS and Android versions of its app, which is a small but significant one. Till now, a user was notified if a message was delivered by two tick marks next to a message. However, WhatsApp users can now know if the message they sent has been read. Once the recipient opens a message the two ticks next to the text message turn blue. In case of a group chat, the two ticks turn blue when all the participants have read a message.

Although a useful feature, the new WhatsApp element also has a down side. A notification that a message has been read, sort of turns into a social pressure that obligates you to reply to a message. It was hard enough to handle the last seen notification, and now the blue tick marks!
Stupid whatsapp update. What's the point of turning off last seen now

Well, we now can only wish that WhatsApp will soon roll in an option that allows a user to switch on/off the feature according to their convenience.
