Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh take back SEZ land
TS government had recently reclaimed over 12,000 acres in Ranga Reddy district alone
Hyderabad: Both the Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh governments had to take back allotted land from the firms that have failed to start up companies, or have been using the land for purposes other that what they have been allotted for.
Andra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has slapped notices on as many as 1,773 firms that backed out of their commitment to set up units within the stipulated time-frame. These lands account for nearly 18,000 acres.
“Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation had alloted valuable tracts of land to various companies in SEZs during the previous government’s regime. However, a majority of entrepreneurs have not utilised the lands for the purpose,” said an official.
Even the TS government had recently reclaimed over 12,000 acres in Ranga Reddy district alone.
