Expect the new Micromax ‘Yu’ handset based on CyanogenMod OS next week

Yu, a new handset by Micromax, is all set to launch in the next week. The Yu smartphone brand is the first one to receive the CyanogenMod operating system in India.

Media reports speculate that the ‘Yu’ CyanogenMod handset will arrive on December 18, 2014. Digit also stated that the 4G LTE Yu smartphone will be equipped with 64-bit octa-core processors, along with Snapdragon 410 chipset. Media reports state that CyanogenMod offers better security and privacy features on mobile devices.

The exclusive partnership between Micromax and CyanogenMod has been making headlines all over the web. This even led to the rumoured news stating, ‘Cyanogen has cancelled the deal with another tech giant - OnePlus’. However, the software company clarified that CyanogenMod will be available on OnePlus One global version devices and Micromax Yu phones as well.

The availability of CyanogenMod on the Yu handset may boost the profit of Micromax, resulting in a better marketshare.
