Apple iPhone 7 processor manufacturing begins
Samsung bags the contract to manufacture A9 chipset for Apple
The memories of iPhone 6 launch are still fresh in our mind, and Apple has already started work on the iPhone 6s/iPhone 7.
After losing a contract for manufacturing the A8 chipset for Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to TSMC, Samsung once again won the big contract for manufacturing 90 per cent of the A9 chipsets that will power the next iPhone. According to reports online, Samsung has already started manufacturing the processor chipsets.
The new processor will have 14nm FinFET technology, which only Samsung can produce, hence the reason why they bagged the contract. Some reports suggest that the A9 will be 15 per cent smaller, will use up to 35 per cent less energy, and will still be 20 per cent more powerful.
