He hasn’t made his film debut yet, but Akhil Akkineni is already a known face thanks to his TV ads. With the launch of his first film with director V.V. Vinayak, the actor talks about the film, why he won’t discuss his love life till he is getting married and more.
Also, for Akhil’s debut, everything seemed to have been planned meticulously. From choosing the right endorsements to his appearances at events, it was well orchestrated.
And the star son feels this is how one should plan one’s entry into films. “Being a star son, everywhere I would go the first question that I would face was ‘When is your debut?’ I guess that’s why it had to be planned well, for the curiosity that exists about your debut film is the highest and it makes for grand openings,” he says.
Now the secrecy over his debut film is finally over with the launch of his film with V.V. Vinayak. But Akhil recounts the time when the speculations were rife. “Every morning I would wake up to be associated with a new director.
The situation was such that at one point even my family members would text me and ask, ‘Have you actually started working with this director?’ The reports have actually made me 10 films old already,” he says.
Talking about the film he says, “It’s an out-and-out action entertainer. We are trying something new in terms of the filming. You won’t see just action scenes, but some cool stunts too,” he says. But his leading lady hasn’t been decided yet.
“We are going through the screen tests. The director wants to go for a fresh face because I’m new too. We don’t want any baggage or expectations to burden the film.”
From films to his personal life, Akhil talks about a normal day in his life. “If it’s a Sunday, I usually wake up by around 11-11.30 am. When I’m bored, I hate being alone so there’s always a friend at my place. In the evenings, I like to go for dinners with my close friends. From the industry, I’m closest to Nithiin, who’s my producer now. We go back a long way and are in constant touch.
I’m also good friends with Charan.” He adds,“I have been waiting to start shooting like a volcano ready to erupt, so that will be my priority now. But for New Year’s, I’m thinking of going somewhere near a beach.”
Ask Akhil about what’s going on the dating front and he says he’s currently single, but is clear about one thing. “That’s one part of my life that I will like to keep a secret until I’m married. I wouldn’t want needless controversies for the other person.”
