National Investigation Agency team coming today, police search lodges
Bengaluru: As the city police starts the probe into the blast, various state and central agencies are carrying out parallel investigations into the incident. The National Investigation Agency officials will visit the city on Monday, while the officials of the Internal Security Division (ISD) launched probed into the case. The city police commissioner, M.N. Reddi, said a Special Investigation Team was set up to probe the case.
Just a few minutes after the blast, the police teams were sent to all lodges in the Majestic area and were asked to take the details of the visitors. The police also kept a close watch at passengers in the bus and railway station. The security was beefed up at the Airport and the documents of all passengers were thoroughly checked before letting them inside the terminal.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) P Harisekaran, confirmed that it was a pipe bomb and said that nails, battery and other objects were recovered from the spot. “It’s too early to jump into any conclusion about which terror outfit has carried out the attack. We are verifying the objects used here with the previous blasts.”
Meanwhile, the police recovered footage from more than 25 CCTV cameras installed in the locality. “We have sought the shop keepers to provide whatever footage they have. However, we have suspected that explosive was placed on Saturday night and it went unnoticed. We are verifying the footage captured on Saturday night,” another senior police official said.
To gather information, the police questioned the security guard of the Coconut Grove restaurant and a paan wala, who has a shop close to the restaurant. The forensic experts collected every object at the spot and took it to the lab for further examination.
