Sunanda Pushkar given Russian poison: Subramanian Swamy

BJP leader had even written to PM Modi seeking a CBI investigation in the case

New Delhi: Giving a fresh twist to the Sunanda Pushkar case, senior BJP leader, Dr Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday claimed that there was enough evidence suggesting that Pushkar was administered a Russian poison — polonium 210. This poison was believed to have been used on former Russian spy Alexander Litvilenko and Palestinian leader Yaseer Arafat.

Speaking of the poison, Dr Swamy told Deccan Chronicle that Sunanda was “killed with a substance which is rare and highly radioactive”. He claimed that the substance “ has a devastating effect on the body” and that “in this case - a higher dose must have been administered as there was an urgency since she was in a hotel and her death could not be delayed.”

While Congress MP, Sashi Tharoor accused Dr Swamy of being “politically motivated,” the BJP leader went on to say he was “carefully watching the developments” and added that he was planning to file a PIL demanding a court-monitored probe into the mysterious death, this month.

“I think the case is on track with the Delhi police filing a FIR claiming that Pushkar did not commit suicide but was murdered,” Dr Swamy said. It may be recalled that five weeks after Sunanda’s death, Dr Swamy had claimed that she was killed in a “professional way”.

Earlier, the BJP leader had even written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a CBI investigation into the case. Importantly, Dr Swamy had linked the death of Sunanda Pushkar with the alleged IPL money laundering row, claiming that she “knew too much”.
