Meet Shruti Sodhi, the Patas girl
Shruti Sodhi has moved from being a news anchor in real life to playing one in Patas.
With Patas turning out to be a hit, all eyes are now on the debutant female lead Shruti Sodhi. Before this film, Shruti has done three Punjabi films.
“I worked as a news anchor on two Hindi channels. From anchoring, I moved to acting, because I am passionate about acting. I wanted to act not to become a star,” says Shruti.
Director Anil Ravipudi saw her pictures and approached her for Patas. “Initially, there was the language problem. But the director and Kalyan Ram helped me out,” she says.
There is not much difference between the two industries, “But the Telugu industry is much larger than Punjabi. It gives more footage and you get to know the world very fast,” she says.
Her parents have always been supportive. “I am an independent girl and I don’t depend on my parents for finances. But they support me in whatever I choose to do. They have confidence in me,” says Shruti.
The actress is already in talks for her next project. “Yes, a few projects have been offered and right now are in talks,” she says.
For the first time, the actress experienced watching a movie early in the morning, she saw Patas on the first show at 7 am in the theatre with the audience.
“That was amazing, I told all my friends about how encouraging the audience here is. I have seen people throw flowers on the screen and dance with the songs. It is exciting and I am thrilled,” she says.
About her future plans, she says, “I want to do good films and I don’t want to work for just money.” When asked, if she is ready to wear a bikini, she says if the character demands it, she is ready. “I can’t wear jeans and swim in a swimming pool,” she says.
