ICC World Cup 2015: Saeed Ajmal to do Urdu commentary for television channel

Suspended spinner to share microphone with Imran Nazir, Sarfaraz Nawaz

Mumbai: The Pakistani off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is out of the 2015 World Cup because of his bowling action, but the 37-year-old bowler will keep eye on every ball bowled at the World Cup. He has been hired by an Urdu TV channel in Pakistan for commentary.

Speaking exclusively from Lahore, Ajmal says: “I have signed with Dunya TV for the World Cup commentary.”

“I shall be sitting in a studio in Lahore and offer my comments on matches not involving only Pakistani team but other countries as well. My views will be aired after every match played in Australia and New Zealand,” he added.

Along with Ajmal, the channel has signed two more cricketers.

"Imran Nazir and Sarfaraz Nawaz too have been signed for the mega-event", Ahmed Raza, the channel official confirms.

Ajmal has remained optimistic about his testing results in Chennai. “I am hopeful of being cleared. However, I am not changing my decision of pulling out of the World Cup squad. The decision was taken in the last week of December and even if I am cleared of my action, I will not make myself available for the World Cup. Playing of this World Cup is not in my destiny and I accept it.”

The 50-over World Cup is played every four year and the next World Cup in 2019 scheduled to be played in England may not see Ajmal, he would be 41 then.
