Haryana: Woman raped, blades found in body

28-year-old mentally-challenged Nepalese woman was gangraped in Rohtak

Chandigarh: The Haryana police has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to look into the gruesome gangrape of a 28-year-old mentally-challenged Nepalese woman by unidentified men in Rohtak.

The police claim they have arrested eight men who attacked her, according to television reports. A ninth man has been identified.

The victim had come to Rohtak few months ago to visit her sister. On February 1, the victim went missing and on February 4, her mutilated body was found in a field of a nearby village with many organs missing last Sunday.

The post mortem of the woman mentioned several injuries on her private parts. Doctors added that stones and blades were also found in her body.

“Her face was eaten by animals; her lungs and heart were found missing. Also, her skull had fractured and there were injury marks on both her thighs and chest,” Dr Dhatterwal said.

The Haryana police on Sunday claimed to have got some vital clues in the case. It has also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for giving any credible information. The SIT headed by DSP Rohtak Amit Bhatia had been constituted to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Haryana, on Sunday strongly condemned the BJP government, led by Manohar Lal Khattar, for the “despicable gang-rape and brutal murder” of the mentally challenged woman and flayed police for its alleged inaction and inability to nab the culprits.

“The law-and-order situation in Haryana had gone from bad to worse with spurt in the number of rape cases, abductions and extortions across the state,” she said in Chandigarh.
